Jan Kudelka, since 1980, has made a lifelong study of the voice impact and energy of Janis Joplin in multiple iterations over the years performed in theatre and concert forms.
Now, in the evolution of this iconic legend, Kudelka has taken on “OLD JANIS”.
Using dreams and direct transmissions from the”ghost-spirit” of JANIS herself, the audience receives a riveting 90 minute performance of JOPLIN’s songs and inner world from a masterful creator- performer. Rather than a full band, and in keeping with the intimacy of this fully realized exploration there are specialized SOLO backing tracks created by the talented Canadian singer songwriter Liam Maclvor Tyne. And additional songs by Leonard Cohen and Robbie Robertson pertaining to Janis’ complex tragic yet joyful life.
Losing none of the impact of young Janis, KUDELKA brings alive the phenomenon that is Janis Joplin at 82, still alive in the hearts and minds of fans of all ages.
