Step back to the 1930s for a unique night of live jazz and vintage charm! Join us for Jazz in the Parlour, where the museum transforms into a cozy Depression-era parlour party.
This one-night event features live performances by Velvet & Ivory, Beverley Maranger, vocals and Tim Elliott, piano, plus musical friends. Guests will also be serenaded with a couple of tunes from the Selves Family Player Piano, now a cherished addition to the Museum’s collection.
The evening is more than a concert; it’s a community celebration and fundraiser, showcasing music, storytelling, and history. Although fraught with hardship, the 1930s inspired beautiful music that people flocked to listen to on home radios and in clubs. This music provided a brief escape to a “world where roses bloom”.
What to Expect:
- Live jazz music inspired by the swing era
- Storytelling and a touch of local history
- Drinks and snacks (this is a licensed event)
- A friendly invitation to dress in your favorite 1930s style
- A warm, welcoming community atmosphere
