The Stratford Perth Museum holds first virtual Annual General Meeting February 17.
That meeting was well attended and included the delivery of the Annual Report from 2020 as well as presentations from the president and chairman Jeff Orr, the general manager John Kastner and the auditors from BDO. To view or download the 2020 Annual Report follow this link.
Orr returns as the chair of the museum board for another year. He was happy to report that the museum recorded a surplus in the 2020 fiscal year and was also able to make the scheduled contributions to the museum’s capital asset management fund as well as the endowment fund. The museum was closed for over four months in 2020 but Orr told the membership that the museum cut expenses and also took advantage of several government pandemic-related programs to arrive at a positive financial outcome in 2020.
Finance Chair Janice Richardson gave a summary of the recently completed fiscal year and presented a budget to the membership for 2021. That balanced budget was approved by the board and passed by the membership.
Chairman Orr also thanked two board members who have completed their tenures – George Jansen who served as board secretary for a number of years and Dave Pullen. The museum also welcomed three new board members – Katie DeBlock Boersma, Brent Shackleton and Mike Valiquette.
The virtual AGM also included pre-recorded messages from our political friends – MP John Nater, MPP Randy Pettapiece and provincial cabinet minister Lisa MacLeod whose portfolio includes the heritage and culture sector.
