Home Learners
Home Learners meet at the museum once a week for four consecutive workshops. Through a series of group discussions, independent journalling and hands-on activities, each workshop deepens connection to ideas inspired by select exhibitions. The Home Learners program is offered year round and is facilitated by the Manager of Education and Programs.
Program Offerings:
You Are Here
Participants explore the fascinating history of Stratford and Perth County from settlement in the 1830s to today. A guided-tour of the exhibition, You Are Here: Vignettes of Perth County, highlights the people, businesses, organizations, and events that make Perth County the vibrant destination that it is today. Over the course of 4-weeks, home learners deepen their knowledge by selecting an artifact to create a connection between their lives and the object at hand. Knowledge gaining and sharing will take place through group discussion, independent journalling and hand-on activities.
Curious About Curating
Have you ever wondered how an exhibition becomes an exhibition? Actually, what is an exhibition? In this program, home learners glimpse behind the scenes and learn all the ins and outs of creating an exhibition. Participants gain an understanding to the importance of storytelling through visual representation. The final workshop encourages each home learner to bring select items from home to create a personal mini-exhibition. Knowledge gaining and sharing will take place through group discussion, independent journalling and hand-on activities.
