It’s time to ‘lace up’ and join us for an opportunity to explore a process for creating lace. Popular in the Victorian era, tatting is a technique using a series of knots and loops forming a pattern of rings and chains. It can be used to make lace edgings, doilies, bookmarks and accessories such as earrings and necklaces. In this workshop you will learn how to shuttle tat a bookmark. Materials for this project are provided to each participant and will include a shuttle and thread.

Barb Hagarty began to actively engage with the history of creating fiber through the practice of tatting.  From here she transitioned to working with other historical forms of fiber creation such nalbinding, drop spindle spinning and sprang.  Her goal is to share knowledge of ancient techniques of fiber creation and create contemporary interest in these ancient practices.
