Current, former Blue Rodeo musicians teaming up for Stratford concert
Two musicians who have made their mark in one of Canada’s most iconic rock bands, albeit at different times, are getting set to join together for a show at the Stratford Perth Museum later this month.

Two musicians who have made their mark in one of Canada’s most iconic rock bands, albeit at different times, are getting set to join together for a show at the Stratford Perth Museum later this month.
Bob Wiseman, a founding member of Blue Rodeo, will be joined by current band member Mike Boguski for their Two Pianos, No Rodeo show on Aug. 24.
Each artist will perform a solo set, showcasing their unique sound, improvisational brilliance and deep musical roots. The museum’s beloved player piano, a cherished artifact donated by the Selves family, will also make an appearance during the performance.
Wieman co-founded Blue Rodeo with singer-songwriter Jim Cuddy, guitarist and vocalist Greg Keelor, bass player Bazil Donovan and drummer Cleave Anderson in 1984. The band enjoyed some success within its first years of forming, including collecting Juno Awards as Group of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 1991. It also took home the 1989 award for best single and video for Try, which reached number three on the Canadian Adult Contemporary Chart and top spot on the Canadian Country Chart.
Wiseman left the band in 1992 to pursue a solo career that also turned out to be a success. Since then he has written the score for dozens of film, TV and stage productions. He has also released 10 solo albums. Wiseman’s work spans a range of genres including folk, pop, experimental music and film.
Boguski joined the band in 2008 after a lengthy solo career that started in Toronto. He has appeared on every one of the band’s albums since The Things We Left Behind was released shortly the year after he joined. His work ranges in jazz, roots and ambient soundscapes.
Both Wiseman and Boguski were inducted along with other Blue Rodeo members into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
Two Pianos, No Rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $35 for museum members and $45 for non-members. Seating is limited with only 70 tickets available.
